Affordability

Housing, energy, water, and daily costs for residents weigh in every decision.  Many Solvang residents are on fixed incomes or are trying to raise families.  Ensuring the City acts responsibly in the face of housing growth and it's own increasing costs is critical.

Resilience & Sustainability

We are in a cycle defined by deferred maintenance and mantatory updates to aged infrastructure.  Rebuilding roads, bridges, water and sewer systems for the next 30–40 years of useful life requires well planned for and careful capital execution.

Public Safety

Community safety is table stakes. From best in class policing services to integrated Emergency response systems, to FireWise certification and readiness, to providing the right tools for prevention and  enforcement, these choices determine the  City's ability to execute.

Health & Well-Being

Residents thrive when their City leaders have made balanced commitments to open green space, recreation, community gathering space and arts and culture enjoyment.  This requires long range commitments to the right programs and development to ensure well-being is valued and experienced by all.

Business Growth & Fiscal Responsibility

Fiscal responsibilty requires diligence, attention to detail,  continuous review and a will to challenge or make tough decisions.  The City's priorities must balance investments in BDD projects, the strategic promotion of tourism and small businesses with services for residents.
